About

The Children’s & Young People Hearing Services Working Group has been founded to work together across trusts and departments with families, voluntary organisations and young people to provide the best coherent care for children and young people with hearing loss in Barnet. We meet three times a year and liaise by email, telephone or smaller group meetings in between.

Regular active participants of the group are:

Advisory Teachers for the Deaf (sensory-impairment hearing),
Paediatric Speech and Language Therapists,
Educational Psychologist,
North London branch of the National Deaf Children Society,
Parent representative
Young person representative (with hearing loss) - position now vacant
Specialist Social Worker for hearing impairment (vacant - as seconded to union work)
Newborn-Hearing-Screening Co-ordinator
paediatric audiologists
consultant specialist for hearing and balance (lead of local service
                    and consultant at tertiary referral centre - representing this as well)
Representative for Health Visitors / Community Nurses
