Barnet Hearing & Balance Services

North London Deaf Children’s Society role covers the social, welfare, education, medical and technological aspects of deafness in children.

Our members include families with deaf children living in North London, Professionals concerned with the welfare and education of deaf children and those with an interest in the deaf community. The children have a wide range of hearing impairment from partially to profoundly deaf.

We organise events and outings to bring families together to encourage friendship and support. Our regular newsletter ‘Deaf Matters’ provides information of these and other local events and items of interest.

The society arranges talks on welfare, education and medical issues and is establishing a lending library of specialist books, videos and teaching aids. We have organised sign language workshops for children and families and work to promote deaf awareness amongst the hearing world.

Through our links with NDCS we provide impartial advice to families in matters affecting the lives of deaf children.
